I’m writing this short blog from a comfortable camp chair, sitting on the beach in Plettenberg Bay, in pretty cold weather, with all three boys braving the chilly Atlantic water…
It got me thinking about the goings on of our wonderful church, newDAY.
There’s an increasing desire for more of the manifest presence of God in our midst. Now, that’s a good thing because we are called the temple of the God in the Bible, after all. This means that when we are born again we literally are able to ‘host’ or ‘house’ or ‘accommodate’ the presence of the Lord in real ways. God wants to be near to us, like a Father with His children, and uses imagery like a vine and it’s branches to make the point…
Our experience of Christianity, as a church, needs to go way beyond mere belief and orthodoxy, to a vital, living and ongoing experience of God – what Paul celebrated with the phrase ‘being in Christ’
This requires more real activity in the disciplines of prayer, meditation, worship, getting together, Bible study etc.
At the same time the enemy will do everything in his power to distract us and take our attention off of our pursuit of more of God. We are encouraged to pray unceasingly in all circumstances and certainly to be covering one another in prayer. As children of God we are called to pray from a position of victory and not of fear.
I encourage all of us to pursue more of God out of the longing of our hearts, so that His manifest glory can touch our lives, and the lives of others, in powerful ways….
